Hey there. Our month started off with a cancellation 3 days before the gig (the Purchase College
gig I told you about last month.) That hasn't happened in a while.
Thankfully. We got over it. And did our first gig on April 26th at the Grand Summit Hotel in Summit, NJ.
This was a fundraising event called "Taste of the Towns" to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Judging by the number of people in attendance (close to 200), it was a great success!
And, congratulations to Chris Madden who won the free ticket giveaway on our website. It was
cool to meet him in person. Anyway, it was an honor for us to be able to play at this event - gratifying and exciting
(the food was good, too!) A little tumultuous
(Sheila broke down on the way there and had to take a cab to the venue leaving her car stranded somewhere
in Newark! All this after driving back from Buffalo the same day. Ugh!) But it turned out fine in the end.
Thank you to everyone
who came out and supported this cause. I had a brother who died of Leukemia a while ago, so I was thrilled
to see so many people in attendance.
The next night, the 27th, we returned to Desmond's. Another great time. I said on our flyer that Joel would be
joining us that night, but forgot that he told me he'd be out of town. Oops. We missed him. He missed a good time.
There was some insane partying going on that night - it was just in the air. We hung out 'til the end ourselves. Thanks
to everyone who came out. It was a great party!
Then, today, the 29th, we played the Myrtle Avenue Street Fair in Ridgewood, NY, our first street festival this year, thanks to
Beth Davis Entertainment. Just got back as a matter of fact and Marco, Jack & I are having
a barbeque. Anyway, the weather was cool and beautiful and it was a good time - Kristy & George's
first street fair.
Three gigs crammed into one weekend. We have another weekend like this coming up in May.
Please see our schedule for more info.
Other news - we have added a third singer to the group. Her name is Camari Frame, and we'll have pics and info up
on her soon. She will be performing her first gig with us at O'Donnell's on May 11th. Kristy and Sheila are both still
with us. It's better to have 3 singers, though, to make sure we always have at least 2!
Here's something really cool -
we received an endorsement from Ultimate Support. Free stuff in exchange for a big ole contract
we had to sign basically promising that we'll only use Ultimate Support stuff. We received
speaker stands, a BLUE mic stand and blue keyboard
stand, some new boom mic stands, guitar stands and guitar amp stands. The gear is sturdy and high quality, and we're
all psyched that the company has chosen us, unknowns that we are! I'm sure you're wondering HOW... an old
friend, that's how. Totally unexpected and via the internet!
Oh yea - we've
started pre-production of CD number two.
Our schedule is so busy, though, I don't know when we're going to be able to get into the studio. I hope it's
soon. I planned May, but I don't know.
Speaking of May, if you're a loser like we are and are going to be in town over Memorial Day as opposed
to out on the Hamptons or wherever the winners of the world go for these holiday weekends, come to
Desmond's on May 25th. We're playing that night and would love to see you!
